Communication was limited, and fine motor skills such as holding a pencil were a big challenge for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step-by-step support and interventions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help him manage his emotions safely, he was first given a <strong>soft inflatable punching bag<\/strong> as an outlet for his energy and frustration \u2014 a safe alternative that helped reduce hitting others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His fine motor development was supported gradually:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"555\" height=\"310\" src=\"https:\/\/bblhive.com\/Knowledge-Centre\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/s4.jpg\" alt=\"buzzing bee\" class=\"wp-image-67\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:612px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bblhive.com\/Knowledge-Centre\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/s4.jpg 555w, https:\/\/bblhive.com\/Knowledge-Centre\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/s4-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 555px) 100vw, 555px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We started with the <strong>sock method<\/strong> to help him grip and stabilise his fingers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since writing within lines was difficult, we began by placing <strong>ice-cream sticks as physical boundaries<\/strong> so he could understand where to stop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Later, we moved to <strong>coloured paper strips<\/strong> as visual boundaries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over time, as his control improved, these supports were slowly faded out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today \u2014 after consistent practice and patient guidance \u2014 he writes <strong>beautifully and independently<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strength-based teaching<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most powerful turning points in his learning journey came from noticing that his <strong>visual memory was extremely strong<\/strong>. We used this strength to introduce reading through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>visual cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>picture-word association<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>real-life objects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>story-based learning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result, he picked up early reading skills <strong>much faster than expected<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Building communication naturally<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Communication was encouraged through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>real-life conversations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>role plays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>small speaking tasks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>guided opportunities to express needs and thoughts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His confidence grew as he experienced success in small steps \u2014 and eventually, he began to communicate willingly and more meaningfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This child has shown remarkable growth \u2014 emotionally, socially and academically.<br>From hitting, hesitation and inability to communicate verbally to writing, reading and communicating \u2014 his journey is a celebration of what the right environment and the right approach can achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His progress inspires us every day!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When Ryan(name changed),&nbsp; a kindergarten child first came to Buzzing Bees \u2013 The Learning Hive, he found it difficult to express himself and often showed frustration through hitting and physical reactions.
